The gently rolling hills of Mount Fair, at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains, provide an ideal terroir for our Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc vineyard. Planted on a southeasterly sloping hill, our grapes are bathed by early morning sunlight and benefit from the drying effects of the prevailing summer mountain breezes.

Event Venues

Surrounded on all sides by mountains, Mount Fair provides an extraordinary setting for events. From hosting a small dinner at the Paddock House or Greenhouse to hosting weddings for up to 200 in our riding arena or on our fields, our venues can be used in multiple ways to entertain in uniquely creative ways.

Vineyard

Mount Fair is blessed with seven acres which are ideally suited for growing grapes.

Situated on a ridge which gently slopes to the southeast, our vineyard receives the morning sun and prevailing mountain breezes which help to minimize the vine’s retention of moisture from dew and rainfall.

Historically, Bordeaux varieties have flourished in our area of the Monticello wine region so that is what we planted: Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc.

The Winery

Designed with traditional rural barn exterior features, complemented on the interior by reclaimed wood floors and ceiling beams, Mount Fair’s Winery offers an inviting and warm environment for wine tasting and small events. Resting on a hill just above our 10-acre vineyard, the porch offers sweeping views of the surrounding countryside and mountains in the background.

Agriculture

Our farming is relatively small in scale and is designed in keeping with our principles for sustainable land use and to enhance the beauty and economic viability of the property.

Sustainability

Mount Fair is committed to efficient and sustainable use of resources and, where practical, relies on renewable technologies for power, heating and cooling. We apply land management practices designed to enhance the health and quality of our soil and streams while minimizing the use of fertilizers and chemicals.
